Lodge Farm Cottages are in the small village of Gisleham, just off the A12 in north Suffolk, and only 3 miles from the Sunrise coast with its beautiful beaches and coastline.
There are a variety of very good pubs, restaurants and tea shops within a short distance for you to enjoy. The seaside town of Lowestoft, Britains most easterly point, has award-winning sandy beaches and all the usual seaside entertainment and is only ten minutes away.
For a more traditional seaside experience, you can visit Southwold with its wonderful pier, and Walberswick famous for the World Crabbing Championships, both only a few miles down the coast.



The RSPB reserve at Minsmere and the National Trust site at Dunwich Heath offer opportunities for birdwatching and walking.

Carlton Marshes is a nature reserve only 2 miles away which holds activity days in the school holidays. Travel a few miles inland and you can explore the countryside of the Waveney valley, with the small market towns of Beccles and Halesworth providing many independent shops and excellent places to eat.

If you fancy a day on the water, you can take a boat out on the Norfolk Broads from Oulton Broad, only 15 minutes away.



The medieval city of Norwich, with its cathedral and Norman Castle is only 45 minutes away, and is one of the top ten shopping centres in England.
Cambridge and Ipswich, and the north Norfolk coast are all easily reached for an enjoyable day out.
For a family day out why not visit Africa Alive (only 10 minutes away), or its sister park Banham Zoo, East Anglia Transport Museum, (10 minutes away), Pleasurewood Hills, Bewilderwood, or the Dinosaur Adventure park.

For the sporty, we have a good selection of swimming pools and golf courses locally, with horse riding, karting, and fishing (both coarse fishing and sea fishing) all available within 5 miles.

The area has a large amount of historic houses and castles for you to visit, including Somerleyton Hall, Blickling Hall, Framlingham Castle, and Norwich Castle.

If you are looking for a more relaxing break, then why not stay closer to our cottages, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. You can take walks along the many footpaths and lanes, or get on your bike and follow the nearby cycle routes. We are only three hours by train to London, making us a relaxing alternative base when visiting the Olympics. Our nearest train stations at Oulton Broad North ( Norwich line) and Oulton Broad South ( Ipswich line) are only ten minutes away.
